These videos were shot in the actual location and in community or hospital pharmacy settings to depict and illustrate some of the miscommunication practices and misunderstanding that would probably occur between the pharmacist and the patient or the customer.

Commercial Persuasion
A detailman from a drug company is trying to convince his fellow community pharmacist to dispense one of the company OTC products using a charts about the effectiveness of the drug. These charts are lacking reliability and scientific evidence. Also the incentives provided by the pharmacist play a major role in convincing the pharmacist to promote the medication.

Cross-cultural differences
Many foreigners hail every year to Saudi Arabia either to work or for other purposes like Haj (pilgrimage to the holy land) or Omrah. Most of these people are not Arabic speakers. Cross-cultural differences might cause misunderstandings.

Do Not Ignore Me
Ignoring the customer for any reason is a common mistake that some pharmacists may commit. The pharmacist should convey respect and treat the patient or the customer in an atmosphere of trust and care.

Labeling
Labeling people is a common practice in life. We classify people according to their look and appearance. Some pharmacists are ignoring their professional look. In such case, troubles with the customers are inevitable.

Shattered Dreams
Privacy is the most basic component of patient counseling. You have to maintain objectivity and privacy throughout the counseling session with the patient or customer, especially if you are dealing with embarrassing information. Look how the customer got mad when the pharmacist unintentionally revealed his secret.

Interview with a Pharmacist
An interview with a fellow pharmacist graduated from another country (Egypt). The informal conversation between the pharmacist and our student dealt with situations that can be considered as miscommunication with customers where the pharmacist had encountered in his career as a community pharmacist. Other issues have also been tackled such as the professional ethics.

Bad Example
A special, but very rare, breed of community pharmacists who may probably ignore their professional obligations toward patients and customers. The pharmacy technician in this scene is trying to overwhelm the customer to sell as much as he can of OTC pharmacy items. A flagrant malpractice example.

Good Example
A professionally-committed pharmacist provides patient/customer with scientific and up-to-date advice. Patient counseling is a professional obligation each pharmacist has to perform regardless of any commercial profit temptation. The anticipated ethical practice prevails in this scene.

Military Training Period vs. Menstruation Period
A military employee involved in a military training session comes to pharmacy to obtain the prescribed contraceptive for his wife. The pharmacist told him to start taking the pills after the end of the period (he meant menstruation period of his wife). A mix-up occurred and the employee thought of the "end of period" as the "end of military training session period".
