The correct diagnosis and clear understanding of disease pathogenesis are the key factors for success of pharmacotherapy. Clinical biochemistry is therefore regarded as one of the basic pillars of medical science that enables the clinicians to perceive the underlying mechanisms of various disease conditions. Biomarkers are invaluable tools available to clinicians and biochemists for diagnosis/prognosis of diseases as well as for the evaluation of treatment planning. Biomarkers also play an important role in basic and clinical research to reveal new insights in various disciplines of medical sciences. Our clinical and basic research projects involve multidisciplinary areas like analytical biochemistry, clinical chemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology and toxicology.
