Asst. Prof. of Modern Middle Eastern History

I received my Ph.D. in Modern Middle Eastern history, with a secondary fields in Modern American History and the History of the Middle Eastern Immigrants to Americas, from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. My research consentrates on social and intellectual historyof Middle East from eighteenthto twentieth centuries, with a focus on modernization, nationalism and state-society relationships. My dissertation examines the relgious discourse about social modernization and its effects on state-society relationship in Saudi Arabia from 1920s to1970s. I participated in Middle East Studies Association 2017Annual Meeting, presenting a paper titled by "An Analysis of Study Abroad:Understanding State-Society Relationship in Saudi Arabia. I earned my BA from Immam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, Saudi Arabia, and MA from University of Hull, Britain.
