THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL STIGMA WITHIN THE COMMUNITY TOWARDS PEOPLE WITH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES AMONG MENTAL HEALTH WORKERS IN SAUDI ARABIA

Alyousef, Seham. M. . 2016

The aim of this quantitative, methodological study is to investigate the social stigma among mental health professionals in the Saudi Arabia. A survey was performed to collect data from 50 mental health workers in the city of Riyadh in order to identify any potential impact of social stigma held by these professionals on people living with mental health conditions in the community. Analysis of the information gathered, reliability of which was tested using SPSS, demonstrated that social stigma towards people suffering from mental health problems existed among mental health providers. The findings will assist in highlighting mental health problems in developing services for the care of people with such problems in Saudi Arabia and (MOH).
