Dr. Omer Fantoukh is the Ex-Chairman of the Pharmacognosy Department and an Associate Professor of Pharmacognosy and Natural Products at the College of Pharmacy, King Saud University, and a Consultant of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Pharmacognosy and Herbal Medicine, professionally classified and registered in Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS). He is a founder and member of the Board of Directors of Digital Health Awareness Society (DHAS) and a member of the Board of Directors, Consultant at Medicinal, Aromatic and Poisonous Plants Research Center (MAPPRC). He is also the Ex-Head of the Herbal and Alternative Medicine Unit and the Ex-Head of Medicinal Plants Garden at King Saud University. He was appointed as an Associate Editor of Saudi Pharmaceutical Journal (IF: 4.562, Q2) and served as Guest and Section Editor for several scientific journals such as Metabolites (IF: 5.581, Q2) and Clinical Phytosceince, and he is classified and registered as Editor-in-Chief by the General Authority for Media Regulation (GAMR). He is a Member of the Scientific Committee for Naturopathy and Herbal Therapy at the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. He also serves as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Quality of Marketed Pharmaceuticals and Biologics and a member of The Quality Committee for Herbal Products Standards in the Saudi Pharmacopoeia at the Saudi Food and Drug Authority. He was awarded a Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University of Mississippi (GPA: 3.97/4.00) as the first Saudi who was awarded a Ph.D. degree in this specialty from the university since its establishment in 1844 AD. He studied Master of Health and Hospital Administration in College of Business at King Saud University for a year and a half (GPA: 4.88/5.00), but he suspended his studies to pursue his Ph.D. dream in the United States. He studied Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) at the College of Pharmacy, King Saud University. He works as a member of the board and supervisory committee of the executive master of drug regulatory affairs. He worked as a cooperative assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Almaarefa. He has several professional certificates in academic and health leadership, change management, strategic negotiation and project management. He was appointed president of the Pharmaceutical Scientists Group in the Saudi Pharmaceutical Society (@PSG_SPS). He was a supervisor of Agreements and MoUs at the College of Pharmacy. He is a cofounder of Health Corrector project (@H_corrector). He worked for the Saudi Food and Drug Authority for a year and a half. He has published over 50 Web of Science indexed scientific articles in the field of herbs, natural products and the analysis of herbal preparations in prestigious, reputable and high-impact factor journals. His research interests center around phytochemistry, safety and quality of herbal products in addition to his contributions to reviewing many research papers for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals with a high impact factor. He participated in teaching graduate students in courses of scientific research methods, selected topics in the chemistry of natural products and regulation of herbal products and health supplements. He contributed to teaching several academic courses for bachelor’s students of the College of Pharmacy at King Saud University, as basics of natural products, herbal and alternative medicine, introductory pharmacy practice experience, herbal toxicology and herbal cosmeceuticals. He supervised and directed a group of students in the field of scientific research. He also participated in many academic and scientific committees such as the study plan building committee, the permanent committee for scientific research strategies, the educational and academic affairs committee, and the chair for the strategic planning committee in the Department of Pharmacognosy. He participated in multiple local and international scientific conferences
