Course Main Objective

1. Architecture of viral, prokaryotic and eukaryotic chromosomes.
2. Nature and consequences of altered chromosomal structure.
3. Sources and consequences involving chromosome number.
4. Human chromosomes and the genetic maps.
5. Genetic disorders caused by defective chromosome structure and/or number.
6. Karyotyping, banding, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) techniques.
