REEE 541 – Hydrogen Energy Production

This course covers the fundamental principles and technologies of hydrogen production, including thermochemical routes such as partial oxidation, steam and dry reforming, thermal cracking, and syngas-based processes. It addresses hydrogen purification, including sulfur and CO₂ removal, and provides comprehensive coverage of water electrolysis technologies based on liquid, polymer, and ceramic electrolytes. The course also introduces solar-driven, photoelectrochemical, and photocatalytic hydrogen production, with emphasis on process efficiency, sustainability, and practical applications.
