323RDS PRECLINICAL ENDODONTICS

323 RDS Course
323 RDS is an endodontic preclinical course taught to 3rd year undergraduate. The main objective of 323 RDS is introducing endodontic as a conservative dental practice for maintaining natural dentition.
323 RDS course have theoretical and practical components. The theoretical part is given in 14 lectures divided into the following topics:

  • Introduction to Endodontics
  • Endodontic Procedures: Part I
  • Posterior Teeth Morphology & Access Preparation
  • Endodontic Procedures: Part II
  • Endodontology

 
The practical part of 323 RDS have 28 laboratory sessions, divided into:

  • Teeth Selection
  • Anterior Endodontic Treatment
  • Premolar (1 canal) Endodontic Treatment
  • Single Visit Endodontics
  • Premolar (2 canals) Endodontic treatment
  • Introduction to Molar Endodontics
  • Practice Molar Endodontics

 
 
Upon completion of the course, undergraduates’ are expected to develop:
Knowledge:

  • Understand the scope of endodontics in restorative dentistry.
  • Recognize the significance of magnification & aseptic technique during endodontic treatment.
  • Understand the scientific justification behind root canal preparation & obturation.
  • Recognize the anatomical differences between posterior and anterior teeth during access cavity preparation.
  • Acknowledge the usage and limitation of endodontic instruments.

 
Psychomotor Skills:

  • Learn how to execute fine psychomotor skill during endodontic treatment including:
  1. Working with indirect vision.
  2. Controlling high speed motor driven burs during access cavity preparation.
  3. Develop fine tactile sensation during root canal preparation.
  4. Correlate the radiographic images to the physical dimension of the tooth during endodontic treatment.

 
 
Interpersonal Skills & Responsibility:

  • Students will learn how to contribute and work in a team to finish the assigned projects.
