Environmental Psychology

The course "Environmental Psychology" deals with the interrelationship between human and the built environment, such that this relationship includes all physical and sensory aspects and their impact on both human and the built environment. The course deals with all disciplines within the built environment (i.e., urban planning, urban design, and architecture).

This course is divided into three main parts that take into account the methodological sequence in studying the concept of environmental psychology. The first part deals with an introductory to the course and an explanation of its most prominent components, the concept of environmental psychology, its objectives, patterns, the most prominent scientific terms used, school of thoughts in the relationship of man and the built environment, and the main theories related to environmental psychology. The second part discusses the most important methods and different tools for studying and analyzing the built environment from the perspective of environmental behavior and cognition. Finally, the third part reviews some research applications and planning and design projects that proceed from the perspective of environmental psychology.
