Perennial climbing  shrub

Life Form

Dioecious, rarely monoecious often climbing on other shrubs. It may reach as high as 2m if supported by high shrubs. Leaves vary in size and may reach up to 2cm long in early stages of growth, they also could be absent.  Staminate cones solitary or in group at the tips of twigs. Female cones sessile or peduncled at new branch tips. Bracts  become fleshy forming a berry-like fruits

Description

Very often found climbing on Ziziphus nummularia or Lycium shawii in depressions or wadi banks, occasionally found in steep rocky ravines

Habitat

Very important browse species especially for camels.
