PHYS 101: General Physics I 

Credit hours: 4(3+0+1)

Course description: 

Light: Reflection and refraction of light, lenses, optical instruments, wave theory of light. Interference, diffraction and polarization of light. Electricity: Electrostatics, electric current, DC circuits, electromagnetism and AC circuits, electrical instruments.

Modern physics: Introduction to quantum theory, atomic spectra, X-rays. Properties of nuclei, radioactivity, decay of alpha, beta and gamma, nuclear fission and nuclear power.
