Highway materials testing including: aggregates, bitumen, and asphalt concrete. Marshall Mix Design method, Superpave Mix Design method, Asphalt concrete distresses. [1(0,0,2)] |
Course learning outcomes |
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Explain basics in the purposes of highway materials’ Tests.
- Explain the basics of validity tests of aggregates.
- Explain the basics of validity tests of bitumen.
- Conduct the validity tests of aggregate and bitumen.
- Design the hot asphalt mixes using Marshall and Superpave Methods and analyses the results to meet design criteria.

- Rolling Thin Film Oven (RTFO) test, Pressure Aging Vessel (PAV) test, Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) test.
