Phytoextraction competence of J. curcas L. on ore waste dump of the bauxite mine under the influence of multi potential Bacillus cereus.

Alfarhan, ِAhmed H . 2020

The untreated and abandoned metal containing ore waste dump of bauxite mine creates soil and water pollution. Thus, this work framed to manage the ore waste dump of the bauxite mine through the ecofriendly phytoextraction process. Further, a native metal mobilizing bacterium with Plant Growth Promoting (PGP) activities was enumerated from the mine surrounding soil and its influence on J. curcas L. phytoextraction potential from the ore waste dump of the bauxite mine was studied. The levels of a number of metals such as Cd, Mn, Pb, and Zn in the ore waste dump were crossing the permissible limits. Entirely, four isolates from 12 showed an excellent metal resistance (up to 700 mg L−1) and mobilized the metals such as Pb, Mn, Cd, and Zn outstandingly. The isolate MS12 showed nitrogen fixing potential as 76.58% and solubilized phosphate up to 71.24 ± 3.25 mg L−1. Through the 16S rRNA sequencing analysis, the isolate MS12 was identified as Bacillus cereus NDRMN001. The growth parameters and the biomolecule contents of J. curcas from group III followed by group II revealed decent results. The phytoextraction competence of J. curcas was also influential in group III (contained mine soil + B. cereus NDRMN001 + J. curcas), followed by group II. These results concluded that the optimistic interaction has taken place among J. curcas and B. cereus NDRMN001 under metal pollution, and it enhanced the phytoextraction process. Hence, this study suggests that this plant-microbe interaction could help the ecofriendly management of ore waste dump of a bauxite mine.
