 Profile

  • Professor and chairman (2001-2005) of Electrical Engineering Department, King Saud University.  He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1984 and 1986, respectively, and the Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1992.  He has more than 15 years of teaching and research experience in the area of communications and signal processing. Much of his research work has been devoted to the development of statistical estimation and modeling techniques. Such techniques play an important role in the analysis and interpretation of empirically gathered data that commonly encounter investigators in practice.  
  • Has an active involvement in a number of research projects. These projects have spanned different fields including modeling video traffic in broadband ATM networks, interference rejection in spread spectrum communications, frequency hopping in GSM network, channel estimation and coding, data embedding, image processing,  EM radiation measurements, radar signal detection, and communications using smart antennas.
  • Has published more than 49 papers in specialized international conferences and 37 papers in prestigious referred journals that include IEEE Trans. Signal Processing, IEEE Trans. Circuits and Systems, IEEE Trans. Geoscience and Remote Sensing, IEEE Trans. Broadcasting, IEEE Signal Processing Letters, Signal Processing, INTEGRATION: the VLSI, Computer Communications, Int. J. Communications Systems, The Int. J. of Modeling and Simulation, J. of Active and Passive Electronic Devices ….etc.
  • Has an active involvement in the review process of a number of research journals, general directorate grants programs, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, and national and international symposiums and conferences.
