Arch 243 Building Materials


مقرر 243 عمر - مواد بناء 

A brief analysis of primary and secondary groups of building materials, their properties, products and use and application in building construction. The materials include: stone, ceramics, red bricks and blocks, gypsum cement and mortars, concretes of different types, metals, glass, fiber-reinforced materials, bituminous 23 products, plastics, rubber, and water-proofing sealants. Study of simple constructions: load-bearing walls, openings formation and roofs. The course includes practical exercises and reports on fieldwork.

 

SYLLABUS

1. Goals Brief:  
1.1. Introduce building materials properties.
1.2. Introduction to simple construction and training in building construction drawings.

2. Course Description

2.1. A brief analysis of the main building materials. Properties products, used in construction, including stone, pottery, brick red, limestone, concrete, metal and cables.
2.2. A brief analysis of secondary materials, properties and products include: glass, fiber reinforced materials, continental products, plastic materials, rubber, insulation material (heat and water).
2.3. Study Construction simple: bearing walls, Bishop and foundations.
2.4. The research includes work to be simple, deep and practical exercises.

.4Grading Criteria:

Final grade of each student will be determined according to the following criteria:

Attendance and follow lectures and interaction

10 %

The average degree  of Quizzes

10 %

Mid-Exam  

15-20 %

The degree student in the preparation of search

15-20 %

Final Exam

40 %

 Note: student whose absentees from the course (lectures and exercises), exceed 25% will not be allowed to sit for the final examinations
