Prof. Abdulaziz A. Alhamid is Saudi, graduated from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom in 1991 with Ph.D. in civil engineering majored in Hydraulics and water resources. In 1991, he joined the Civil Engineering Department at King Saud University as an assistance professor, and he became a professor in 2003.
He chaired the Department of Civil engineering for four years between 1999 and 2003 and assigned the dean of the college of engineering on Feb, 2005.
He taught a variety of both basic and specialized undergraduate and graduate courses with a focus on Hydraulics. Courses include fluid mechanics, hydraulics and hydraulic structures.
He published more than 50 papers on referred international and local journals and conferences. His research concerns with hydraulic jump and energy dissipators, flow through combined gate-weir device in sewers, in house potable water distribution networks, open channel flow and flood control, pipe flow and flow distribution systems, flow measurements and hydraulic structures, Wadi hydrology and watershed managements and sediment transport and river engineering.
He co-authored tow books in Arabic and wrote chapters on edited books published by John Wiley & Sons and UNESCO.
He won the Prize of HRH Prince Sultan Bin AbdulAziz for outstanding research paper submitted to the ninth International Water Technology Conference, Egypt in 2005 and he is a listee of Marquis Who’sWho in the world Biographee from the 17th edition published in 2000 in USA.
