Riyadh- Arabian Business Magazine awarded Nadia AlDossary the Saudi Achievement Award for 2008. There was only one small problem: AlDossary is a woman.
It does not matter if AlDossary heads the AlKhober-based metal empire. It does not matter that she was profiled and reported in the Washington Post and that the Financial Times named her one of the top 25 economically influential women in the Middle East.
AlDossary believes that women in Saudi Arabia are making progress. When asked about the role businesswomen play in finding solutions to unemployment and providing job opportunities for women, AlDossary said that the government must take lead. “you cannot hold the private sector responsible, she said. “We are not in charge.” The private sector should be viewed as a partner in the education and recruitment movement and cannot move forward without the government’s lead. AlDossary praises the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his efforts to empower Saudi women. She believes that Saudi women must take part in the Kingdom’s development and must be more active, they can start with careful and steady steps. They should look for opportunities to help them grew in business.
