Course description of bilateral interpretation 1:
This course aims at introducing students to the methodology of bilateral translation, its machinery and the linguistic, intellectual and psychological skills which are involved in it. Students are particularly drilled on how to transfer meaning between two persons one of whom speaks Arabic while the other speaks English. Focus is put on real communicative situations. Students also be trained to deal with the linguistic, cultural and intellectual problems which interfere with the transfer of meaning with precision and speed. Students are trained to be attentive to non-spoken elements and their role in oral communication.

Course description of administrative translation
The course aims at providing students with the skills of practical translation in the fields of public administration, management, accounting, economics and marketing. Special emphasis is given to developing students’ skills of speed accuracy. Students should learn relevant terms and will have to consult specialized dictionaries in the respective fields.

C. Examination Scheme
* The first in-term mainly tests the students' assimilation of the theoretical part by objective questions and their retentive and retrieval skills as well as their fluency by a very-time-limited terminology quiz.
* The form of the second in-term and final exams is almost the same except that the latter is abit longer and more comprehensive. Each exam has two interviews to be interpreted using the skills taught along the course.
Translation in the Field of Natural Sciences
A. Course Description
- The course aims at enhancing the students' translation skills in the fields of chemistry, physics, meteorology, astronomy, geology, geography, IT, ecolog and anthropology. It also aims to train students to deal with the conceptual, lexical, structural and scientific problems involved in the translation of texts related to the above mentioned fields.

C. Examination Scheme
The two in-terms and finan have English and Arabic texts to be translated using the skills and terms which have been taught along the course. Usually Arabic texts have 40% of the exam marks, while English texts have 60%. All the texts are similar to the ones discussed in class.
