English  102 Course Objectives

 

 

COURSE: 102 ENGLISH FOR THE STUDENTS OF COMPUTER SCIENCES

 CREDIT HOURS: 6

              English 102 is an integrated course designed for the students of computer sciences.  It s an intermediate course which aims at developing all four skills of technical English with special emphasis on reading and vocabulary.  The texts cover the latest applications of computer technology to reinforce the students’ knowledge in their field of specialization.  Each unit also contains listening and speaking activities to develop the ability of the students in communicating in English.  The cassette contains the dialogues from all the units, as well as several of the reading passages.  There are also a letter-writing section and a comprehensive glossary of computing terminology. 

             Supplementary materials are chosen from computer journals and magazines to support the book and provide the students with up-to-date information about computer technology. Such materials help the students to read independently, take notes and write summaries and reports to fulfill the requirements of their college.
