The Importance of Body Language

People can not live without each other, we are social human beings. As soon as we communicate with others, we are opening ways to understanding and self-development. For this, we use of spoken and written language, known to be primary forms of communication. Through these forms, we make our ideas clear to each other. However, we can also communicate without words. This kind of communication tells us something about the relationship between people. This kind of communication is non-verbal. One of its major forms is body language.

Have you ever had a certain feeling about someone? You meet someone for the first time and an inner voice says: "I like her” or “I don’t trust her”. Have you ever thought why you formed that quick opinion?

Body language plays a key role in our feelings about other people as it gives us messages about them. Whether we feel it or not, we are always communicating verbally and non-verbally.
It is important to understand that we are always communicating through body language, whether we mean it or not. Studies done in that field indicate that:
•55% of the communication consists of body language,
•38% is expressed through tone of voice,  and only
•7% is communicated through words.

There are many forms of body language. One of these forms is facial expressions. There are some universal facial expressions like a smile or a frown. Darwin believed that facial expressions of emotions are similar among humans, regardless of their culture, race or social status. Facial expressions also include eye contact which is direct and powerful.
