- Knowledge of the basic steps for summarising long texts.
- Knowledge of the summary as a process leading to a product.
- Raising students' awareness of translation as a demanding task that requires specific types of knowledge and skills to be constantly developed, increased and up-dated.
- Raising students' awareness of the responsibility of the translator when it comes to summarising the material before translating it to the reader, thus the importance of accuracy in both communicating the important ideas and translating them.
