Model Predictive Control (MPC) is a well-known control algorithm, which has received considerable acceptance in the industry due to its effectiveness in various industrial applications. This success goes back to MPC appealing features such as handling constraints in optimal fashion and superiority for processes with a large number of manipulated and controlled variables.
For this reason MPC became a standard toolbox in the MATLAB software. I have developed a simulink module that provides visual interface to the MPC tools. The fee downloadable module uses a polyethylene reactor as a case study. The user can replace the case study by his own by doing the folloiwng:
- Replace the file "smodel.dat" with another one that contain the steps response model of the designated new case study.
- Replace the file "plant.m"iwth another noe that contain the differential equations describing the new case study.
