The course aims at defining the role and importance of urban planning in the process of organizing human settlements and forming the urban environment in the city and its districts, Throughout using the historical methodology in apprehending and analyzing urban varieties.

·       The study of international experiments in the birth and growth of cities, and the different natural, social, and cultural characteristics that contributed the urban heritage. And the study of spatial, economic, and political factors that influenced urban evolution the history of settlements from pre history up to the 20^th century, with a special emphasis on the history of the Islamic cities.
