Dr. Ahmed M. Attiya

Ahmed M. Attiya received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Cairo University (Egypt), and the B.S. degree, with Honor Degree, in Electrical Engineering from the Zagazig University (Egypt). Before joining Electronics Research Institute ERI (Egypt) in 1991, he was a Design Engineer in Electrolab (Egypt). Then, Dr. Attiya has got a position of Research Assistant in ERI. He became a researcher at ERI at 2001. In 2006 he was promoted to be Associate Prof. in the Field of Electromagnetics and Microwave Engineering in ERI.

Dr. Attiya worked as a research associate in Electrical Engineering Dept. in Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (USA) in the period from Oct. 2002 to Dec. 2003. He also worked as visiting scholar in Electrical Engineering Dept. in Olemiss University of Mississippi (USA) in the period from August 2004 to August 2005. In the period from October 2005 to December 2006, Dr. Attiya cooperated with the Egyptian Space Program.

Dr. Attiya has authored and co-authored over 30 technical journal articles and conference papers and has written a book chapter.

Dr. Attiya has an experience in electromagnetics, antennas, microstrip structures, microwave measurements, antenna measurements, numerical and asymptotic methods, scattering and diffraction, short pulse electromagnetics, UWB antennas, localized waves, satellite communications, frequency selective surfaces, electromagnetic and photonic band gap structures, carbon nanotubes and their applications in microwave.

Dr. Attiya is a member of IEEE since 2003.

In 2007, Dr. Attiya was awarded the National Encouragement Prize in Engineering Science from Scientific Research Academy of Egypt.
