Professor Abdullah Ibrahim Al-Mhaidib is currently working as a vice dean of College of Engineering for development and quality. He is a Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at in the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He graduated in Civil Engineering from King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1982. He obtained his M.Sc. degree (Geotechnical Engineering) from University of Colorado at Boulder, Colorado, USA, in 1986; and his Ph.D. degree (Geotechnical Engineering) from University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, in 1992.
Prof. Al-Mhaidib works in the areas of analysis and design of deep foundations; analysis and design of shallow foundations; characteristics and stabilization of expansive soils; characteristics and stabilization of sabkha soils. He has published more than 35 national and international technical papers in various journals and conferences in the area of geotechnical engineering, especially in the fields of expansive soils and pile foundations. He reviewed a number of journal and conference papers. He translated two geotechnical books (soil mechanics; foundation design) to Arabic language.
Prof. Al-Mhaidib is the winner of The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Abdullah Bin AbdulAziz International Award for Translation in 2008.
