Course Title: Concepts of Nursing

Course Overview:
This course is designed as an introduction to selected concepts that can be used in a large variety of clinical settings. One acquired and understood. This type of knowledge enables students to analyze situations, make decisions and solve problems. The nursing process will be presented as the basic organizational framework within which nursing knowledge is applied. It assists students in providing effective, systematic and scientifically based nursing care.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the course, the student will be able to:
1- Comprehend concepts that are fundamental to the practice of nursing.
2- Apply knowledge to patient care within the framework of nursing process.
3- Analyze the role of the nurse in promoting healthy physiologic responses of patients.
Course Requirements:
Focus will be on acquiring basic skills in providing total personal hygiene, range of motion exercises (ROM), total care for immobilized clients, moving, turning and transferring clients. Obtaining basic measurements such as weight and height. Nursing activities to promote healthy physiologic responses such as promoting oxygenation, nutrition, enema and catheterization. Demonstration and redemonstration techniques will be utilized. Practice on simulators, self and others will be conducted in the nursing skill laboratory.

4- Promoting activity and exercise.
5- Promoting proper nutrition.
6- Promoting urine elimination.
7- Promoting bowel elimination.
