IV  AWARDS /HONOURS RECEIVED:

 

1. Recognized by the University of Mysore, Mysore, India to guide research students for Doctoral degree in Speech pathology

 

2. Recipient of Commonwealth Fellowship in 1988 to visit UK to participate in a seminar on “Educational Needs of Deaf Children”

 

3. Junior Research Fellowship by Indian council of Medical Research in 1981 to carry out research project titled “objective measurements in the speech of the hearing impaired”

 

4. Best Scientific Paper award for the paper titled “comparison of reflex amplitude and decay time in contra-lateral and ipsilateral stimulation in normal persons” by Indian Speech and Hearing Association.

 

V. CLINICAL EXPERIENCE:

 

From 29-10-1984 to 18-6-96 in the department of speech pathology, All India Institute of speech & Hearing, I was involved in clinical teaching of 8 hours per week. 

 

The job involved primarily supervising under-graduate and graduate students in the areas of voice disorders, rehabilitation of the laryngectomee, cleft palate speech, stuttering and the speech of the hearing impaired, in developing

 

    Developing case history taking skills

    Developing interviewing skills

    Learning various assessment procedures

    Interpreting the clinical data obtained

    Diagnosis of speech disorders

    Making prognosis statements

    Planning appropriate therapeutic procedures

 

2. From 19-06-96 to 27-03-98 as lecturer in the department of Speech Sciences and Audiology, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, National University of Malaysia, I was involved in the clinical training of the under-graduate students, as detailed above.

 

In addition to this clinical teaching, I was also involved in clinical service, 6 hours per week, in the areas speech and language disorders.
