- General Goal of program:

This course is intended to provide sufficient knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Biomedical Equipment Technology.  The student should develop the ability to learn and apply several approaches used to analyze analogue and digital signals, means to measure biological variables, ways to recognize the needs of the healthcare givers for medical equipment.  The students should extend their understanding to differentiate between the basic technology needs in the subdivision of electro-mechanical, electro-medical, laboratory and radiology and medical imaging. This course is aligned with the laboratory work, which is typically taken in the same semester.

- Short Description of the course:

The objective of this course is to provide an understanding of basics of digital signal analysis and biometrics.  The objectives extend to include sample medical equipment details and principle of operation in the medical technology sub-division, namely, electro-mechanical, electro-medical, clinical laboratory and radiology and medical imaging.
