           Bali is a popular tourist island, but for most of the year very few people go to Negara .However in late summer ,

t    the  area attracts many visitors, because every two weeks in September and October there is a very unusual event . th       the  young men of Negara race bulls.

        The event began about 100 years ago .Nobody is really sure about the reason for the event .Perhaps  it was part   of a festival giving thanks to God for a successful harvest.

     The bulls are not ordinary farm animals. They are special water buffalo. People choose them for their speed          a     their color. Their only job is racing. Each jockey has two bulls and a chariot or small cart.
