PRE- CLINICAL DENTAL HYGIENE

OBJECTIVE                            

Complete a patient history, recording dental and medical data and perform an oral examination. Identify the instrumentation used in dental hygiene, indicating each  instrument's function and maintenance and perform a complete propylaxis, removing hard and soft deposits on the teeth and polishing.

 

 

DESCRIPTION                       

A lecture and laboratory course designed to orient the student to clinical dental hygiene practice including oral examinations, charting, taking medical and dental histories, aseptic procedures, positioning techniques, instrumentation scaling methods and initial practice in propylaxis techniques.
