                                      Abstract for the study

 

Objective :-

The objective of this study was to establish the Titmus stereoacuity norms in Saudi female children .

 

Methods :-

The total numbers of subjects examined was 706 , between the age of 6-12 years , attending one primary school and one amusement park in Riyadh . VA was measured for all subjects at 40 cm monocularly and binocularly , then cover tests were done for them , all subjects with 20/20 of VA and were orthophoric were examined for Titmus stereotests .

 

Results :-

501 (77.3%) of subjects had 40 seconds of arc , 82 (12.7%) had 50 sec.of arc , 35(5.4%) had 60 seconds of arc , 21 (3.2 %) had 80 seconds of arc , 9 (1.4%) had 100 seconds of arc .

 

Conclusion :-

We have established the normal range of Titmus stereoacuity for Saudi children aged between 6 – 12 years who had a VA of 20/20 and had normal binocular single vision .

For subjects between 6 – 9 years old , Titmus stereoacuity norms were between 40 – 100 sec.of arc , and between the age of 10 – 12 years , the stereoacuity should be 40 – 80 sec. of arc .
