Course description PHG 532
Prerequisites PHG 531
This course is a continuation of PHG 531. it primarily deals with the applications of sophisticated 1D &2-D NMR pulse sequences for the structure elucidation of natural products. These includes the techniques of APT, COSY, INADEQUATE, NOESY, INEPT, DEPT, DEPTGL, HMQC, HMBC, TOCSY. The course will also deal with the chemical and spectroscopic approaches used for steriochemical assignments. The principles and applications of optical rotatory dispersion, circular dichroism and the excition chirality method will be emphasized.
