Economic Entomological Laboratory (EEL)
Economic entomology is a field of entomology, which involves the study of insects that are of benefit or those that cause harm to humans, domestic animals, and crops. Insects are highly diverse and cosmopolitan. Economic Entomological laboratory was founded with establishment of the college. The lab plays important roles in different activities.
Many research topics related to agricultural development have been conducted in the laboratory. The Laboratory has been controlled by several scientists and researchers who they have done these distinguished researches.
Many graduate students have engaged with the research staff in the Laboratory, working on different topics of Entomology. The laboratory also provides assistances to undergraduate students in some academic courses especially in the field training course. The undergraduate students learn research principles and training to carry out a short research project.
The laboratory offers extension services to the farmers and agricultural companies in term of dentification of insect pests and sugesting recommendations that mange insect pests. Moreover, the Laboratory participates in training programs for the farmers.
