Course Description: This course introduces the students to the evaluation and treatment of different pediatric problems.

 

Course Objectives: Upon the completion of this course, students should have a clear understanding of the followings:

 

·        Evaluation in pediatrics.

·        Normal growth and development.

·        Different treatment measures for neuropediatric problems.

·        Different treatment measures for orthopedic problems in children.

·        Different treatment measures some genetic disorders.

Week 1:

-        Evaluation in pediatrics.

 

Week 2:

-        Normal growth and development.

-        Reflexive maturation.

 

Week 3:

-        Cerebral palsy: Introduction.

 

Week 4:

-        Cerebral palsy: Evaluation.

 

Week 5:

-        Cerebral palsy: Treatment.

 

Week 6:

-         Spina bifida: Evaluation and treatment.

 

Week 7:

·        1st Midterm Examination (Written & Practical).

 

Week 8:

-        Facial nerve lesions.

 

Week 9:

-        Brachial nerve lesions.

 

Week 10:

-        Muscle disease.

 

Week 11:

-        Poliomyelitis.

 

Week 12:

-        Congenital hip dislocation.

 

Week 13:

-        Foot deformities.

-        Muscular torticollis.

 

Week 14:

·        2nd Midterm Examination (Written & Practical).

 

 

Teaching Methods:

1.     Lectures.

2.     Practical Application.

 

Grading:

1.     Midterm Exams: 60% (40% Written & 20% Practical).

 

2.     Final Exam: 40% (30% Written & 10% Practical).
