Course description:

CLS 414 is a comprehensive course designed to give a fundamental knowledge of the theoretical and practical concepts of immunology and their relevant in health and diseases. The course will introduce the students for host defenses, how the human immune system functions in the recognition and elimination of antigens, immune regulation and clinical aspects of immunology in the context of infectious diseases and immunological disorders.

Learning outcomes:

By the completion of the course, the students will be able to: 

-         Uunderstand the structures and functions of immune system and its cellular components and molecules (cell surface or soluble) involved in recognition of self and non-self antigens and the way in which the immunological cells interact during the immune response.

-         Discriminate between good and bad immune responses and identifying at fundamental level how these responses react with the organ transplant and tumor, and how they lead to immunological disorders such as hypersensitivity and immundeficiencies.

-         To perform and interpret various immunological assays used in clinical immunology laboratory.
