For whom: this course is prepared for CLS students (level 5). 

Course description:

CLS 311 is a comprehensive course in microbiology designed for allied health students. The student will be given the fundamental information on microbial life including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. This course will also provide the students with basic knowledge of microbial physiology and genetics as well as the knowledge associated with microbial contamination and the interaction between these microbes and the human body. 

Learning objectives:

By the end of this course, the students will be able to:

-         Identify the differences between the structures of microorganisms.

-         Describe the growth and replication of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.

-         Identifying the physical, chemical methods for controlling microbial growth

-         Describe the fundamentals of the human immune response and the role of microorganisms in human disease.

-         Understanding the basic microbiology techniques i.e use of laboratory equipments, microscope, media preparation, staining and cultural methods.
