1-         ABSTRACT:

Marriage is considered as a base on which the family and the community will be founded. In order for the marriage goals to be satisfied there must be some kind of love and mercy and should be a psycho house for the couples.

Therefore the marital adjustment represents a major important goal for satisfying a settled family life that is sought by individuals and those who are concerned with psychic and marital family counseling.

Several studies showed that for successful marriage there must be a number of important criteria such as the styles of marital treatment that we look at as a model of dual interaction that concentrates on the repeated communication between the dual relation parties.

Individuals who are linked with close relations such as couples  would have a kind of a homogenous relation that would focus on the direct handling style and on enunciation and non enunciation aspects in communication such as the expression of face and body , voice tone and eye look.

The marital adjustment is affected by both treatment style and personality feature of the couples.

Whenever the couple personality is mentally, bodily, emotionally and socially closer, that will help that adjust to the marital life.

The effect of interference of other factors should not be neglected in the study of family life as it has a role creating or non creating marital adjustment such as women going out for work and what had accompanied that of roles struggle to where the marital family life was exposed.

Therefore, the researcher considered the marital adjustment study and its relation to some variables such as the marital treatment style, personality features and a woman work.

The researcher handled the topic of her study in six  chapters as follows :

2-          Chapter one: Research problem, importance, objectives terminology and limitations.

3-          Chapter Two: theoretical framework for study and included: Marital adjustment – introduction to marriage legality - adjustment concept – definition of  importance of marital adjustment – marital adjustment aspects – the relation between parents and sons – interaction changes associated to marriage  span. Measurement of marital adjustment and its prediction – maladjustment.

Marital treatment styles:- definitions – styles of normal and abnormal marital treatment- examples of Sunna and ancestors life for marital treatment styles.

Personality traits: definitions - Personality in Quran and Sunna and psychic heritage – personality of a Muslim woman in Quran and Sunna – the theories that interpret the personality – traits theories – personality traits taken in the study.

Woman work: legislative review – historical review – effect of women work on marital adjustment.

1-      The studies that handled marital adjustment and its relation with some variables.

2-      The studies that investigated the marital treatment styles and their relations with some variables

3-      The studies that handled personality traits and their relations with some variables.

Through the theoretical background and the previous research results and in the light of concepts and study objectives, some of the following assumptions were drafted as follows:

1-       There is a general positive correlation between the normal marital treatment styles and marital adjustment for the wives " working – not working"

2-       There is a general negative correlation between the negative personality traits and the marital adjustment for wives ( working – not working)

3-       There is a general positive correlation  between the positive  personality traits and marital adjustment for wives ( working – not working)

4-       There is a general negative correlation between the normal marital treatment styles and positive personality features for wives ( working – not working)

5-       There is a general positive correlation between the normal treatment styles and positive personality features for wives ( working – not working)

6-       There is a general positive correlation between the abnormal marital treatment styles and negative personality traits for wives working – not working.

7-       There were significant statistical differences between working and non working wives in marital adjustment

8-       There were significant statistical differences between working and non working wives in marital treatment styles

9-       There were significant differences between working and non working wives in personality traits.

10- The normal marital treatment styles and the positive personality traits work as predictive factors for marital adjustment for working and non working wives.

4-         Chapter four: Research methodology, Procedures and field study.

Research methodology: the Correlative Descriptive Methodology.

Research sample: Research sample consisted of (362) married women of working – non working.

Study tools: marital adjustment scale: prepared by the researcher.

Marital treatment styles scale: prepared by the researcher

Clinical analysis scale: Mohammed Alsayed Abdulrahman and Saleh Abu Obah (1998)

Statistical methods: Correlation Coefficient – t-test for significant differences – Factorial analysis –Regression – stability coefficient.

5-          Chapter Five: Study results and discussion:

1- There is a positive general correlation between the normal marital treatment styles and marital adjustment for working and non working wives.

2- There is a negative general correlation between the abnormal marital treatment styles and the marital adjustment for working and non working wives.

3- There is a positive general correlation between the positive personal traits and marital adjustment for working and non working wives .

4- There isn’t a general negative correlation between the negative personality " control" traits and marital adjustment for working and non working wives.

5- There is a general positive correlation between the normal marital treatment styles and the positive personality traits " harmony - emotional stability – self satisfaction “for wives “working and non working"

6- There is a general positive correlation between the abnormal marital treatment styles and the negative personality traits “control – rushing" for working and non working wives.

7- There are significant statistical differences between working and non working wives in the marital adjustment in favor for non working .

8- There are significant differences between working and non working wives in the normal marital treatment styles, however no significant difference were found between them in the abnormal marital treatment styles.

9-There are significant differences working and non- working wives in positive personality traits meanwhile there were no differences between them in negative personality traits.
