SPED 512 Method of assessment of hearing impairment

Office hours:. I will be in my office in my office hours Saturday, Monday, Tuesday or after class or on other days by appointment.

 

Purpose:

 This course aims at realizing the following: The understanding of methods of assessment of hearing, communication, language, academic / reading/ writing and the assessment of social emotional aspects on deaf and hard of hearing. Also this course aims to provide students with different types of scales used with deaf and hard of hearing.

Desired Outcomes of Course:

Knowledge of :

·       general concepts of assessment

·       team work in assessment programs

·       Educational evaluation concepts

·       what is the purpose of assessment of deaf children?

·       hearing assessment

·       methods of identification of children with hearing loss

·        Criteria of prediction of appropriate communication methods of deaf children

·       Educational and psychology assessment of deaf children

·       Consideration when select tests for deaf children

·       educational audiologist

·       multidisciplinary team

·       abilities assessment/ language, reading, writing/ examples of scales/ applications

 

Grades:

Med-term =  20

Lecture summary-reaction paper = 10

* 10 lectures summary

Observation report of hearing assessment center = 10

Final exam = 60
